I'll Keep This One Brief
Note to self: If you can't say anything interesting, definitely don't talk for more than 5 minutes.
3 Fast Things
Some pics and vids from my big fat Indian fashion shoot have landed on my IG grid and I want you to look at how hot I am when I speak Hindi.
You know what I wish there was more of in my life? To-Do Lists. I love to-do lists. They not only help me keep my career and goals on track, they help me keep my attention deficit in order. I use this app called TickTick and it's helped me so much in managing the looming sense of overwhelm, which I generally carry about because of all the to-dos I have. There is just something about them being on a list that makes them bearable.
I think I'm going to start a side gig as a Home & Away extra. I don't really want to tell you any more about it because I don't know the terms and conditions yet, but hell yeah, this is a bloody dream come true. Sort of. My dream was always to be an actual actress on the show, but perhaps if I sip my milkshake really elegantly and really realistically in the Summer Bay diner, well, maybe they'll see my potential.
1 Slow Thing: Brevity
If you don’t know who Winston Churchill is, your general knowledge is about as lousy as mine and I don’t judge you. The only reason I really know who he is and what he did is because novio took me to the Churchill War Rooms in London and we nerded out over it for a couple hours. I think my favorite thing about the guy is that he liked to drink wine at breakfast. He sounds like my kind of high functioning alcoholic PM.
The reason I bring up this blast from the past is not because I’m encouraged by his breakfast bevs (sadly, I am though) but because one of the many things he is remembered for is this time he wrote a memo telling all his staff to make their communication with him more brief.
All the long ya-ya his people kept sending in about bombs and guns and enemies and war and stuff was a bloody waste of time apparently. Plus, ew, I bet it was boring.
"To do our work, we all have to read a mass of papers. Nearly all of them are far too long. This wastes time, while energy has to be spent in looking for the essential points… the discipline of setting out the real points concisely will prove an aid to clearer thinking…" the memo says.
Who would have thought that almost 80 years later, old mate would have a new fan girl sitting here all inspired to cut her own crap and try to keep things less boring.
What would help me do this is a bit of planning and less rush rush rush in everything I do. But I think if I just approach both my new videos and this newsletter with the simple and clear goal to keep it punchy, I can potentially bore all ya’ll a little less, one post at a time.
So, in the name of brevity, I’m wrapping this up, right here, right now. You’ll be pleased to know that I cut the time on the newest video in half (compared to the first two vids) and I think the message is a bit clearer. Also, the audio is better.
We are already improving.
Okay, I’m out of here.
